Carefully selected food-led country inns

British Country Inns (BCI) is a group of four companies comprising a total of 30 pubs. Over £30 million was raised by Smith & Williamson via the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) between 2005 and 2007.

The BCI concept is quality food-led country inns, a sector of the pub industry relative immune to the smoking ban and the downturn in the economy.

The BCI executive management team is headed by Peter Mathews and Tim Udell, who between them have many years of operational experience in the pub industry and were the management team behind the successful English Country Inns Group, which was sold to Marstons in 2005.

Non-executive chairman of the BCI boards in Anthony Miller, a founder director of HLL Humberts Leisure and a leading specialist in the valuation of pubs.
